Tuesday Tidbit: My Blue & White Ginger Jar Addiction

Tuesday Tidbit: My Blue & White Ginger Jar Addiction

Tuesday Tidbits = peek inside the (sometimes) manic collector inside of this Designer Brain

Started as early as age 4? Candles, small bottles…all sorts of things…

This Tuesday? Blue & White Ginger Jars

Love these…

All types & sizes, but mostly Blue & White

I just purchased a similar one with my “birthday money”…it is so pretty!

This season, I even decided to try a new custom color combination and decorate our Entry Hall Christmas Tree around the Blue & White Jars that were already there…

Look closely. You will see several blue & white jars…these live in the entry most of the year. Couture Chateau Custom Tree featured on ivillage.

One of the reasons I like them is they mix & match beautifully.

These are from Williams Sonoma and range from $150 up. If this is the lower end…

THIS is the higher end, from Taigan. If you want to go expensive, the sky is the limit.

So for today – just a peek inside ;).

And have I ever had them custom made?! OF COURSE!!

This is a picture from Custom Made’s Website….for custom pottery. These are not ours – they belong to the mind of The Pottery Company. We have had custom pots made in Santa Barbara, California & Mexico by our own proprietary suppliers :).

Stay tuned as we showcase our Christmas Tree above in detail tomorrow and share some of the details you can mimic at home.

For now, off to pay some bills & clean the office! There is glitter everywhere from Holiday Decorations!!

Monday Matters: Realistic Timelines for Custom November Holiday Projects

Monday Matters: Realistic Timelines for Custom November Holiday Projects

We do a lot of custom around here

Custom Fabric

One of our Custom Crewels. All hand over – under woven on ivory velvet. Sumptuous. Spectacular as drapes.

Custom Furniture

Even Custom DIY!

One of the funniest things we deal with are Clients with unrealistic timelines

This past week + weekend do you know who had one?

I DID

Rather humorous to see my Assistants just “look” at me when I described the to do list a week ago

Opps

So we worked on Saturday (thank you!!)

Asst Project Facilitator Daniel made a glorious mess.

And a bit on Sunday (forgive us Lord)

today = tackle a realistic calendar at the Morning Meeting

4 Things I wish I had remembered about Custom Timelines = take your own advice Ann!

1. Don’t rush custom. It impedes quality.

Last week was filled with custom DIY Type Holiday Projects. I left no margins = mistake. PLAN your time out. Include breaks & walks to clear your head, your Assistants heads AND your skill set!

2. The great custom idea in your head takes TIME to communicate effectively.

This is sneak peek of just one. The time that goes into making a shot is incredible.

Light bulb Design moments = super excited to get them fabricated & photographed. Instead of making sure I had specific instructions I relied on quick sketches & “kind of like this” communication. Thank goodness we are a flex group around here. Some good music in the background and fresh coffee pretty much saved the week. Next time, drawings!

3. CLEAN the mess before you start another one.

We are using this as a jumping off point for a clients custom light fixtures in a cabin project that has NOTHING to do with the Holiday Crush. We have FIVE chandeliers in our small space that need to be prep’d for our artist. They take up a LOT of space…

We have a small Studio Space. At 600 square feet, we r tight. Everything does double duty. Throw in some Client Areas & a delivery of 5 Chandeliers that need to be prep’d and all of a sudden, organization = CRITICAL.

As you watch your home morph into combination spaces: Home + Holiday + Gift Storage + Wrapping Center + Mailing Machine, much like our little studio has over the past week: Holiday + Regular Client Business + DIY, take a few minutes to review the list.

Monday Matters = Starting the week off right

Hope it helps!

Looking forward to sharing these pics with you. Can hardly wait. Maybe that’s the problem…I’m just like a kid at Christmas!

Monday Matters: How to Custom Decorate my home when all I can afford is from a Catalog?

Monday Matters: How to Custom Decorate my home when all I can afford is from a Catalog?

Seminar is SOLD OUT but we will VIDEO it for an affordable download option broken into 5 Segments! So excited!!

We believe you are Custom

We believe making a Custom Space makes us live more intentional lives

A simple customization from Retail product…we took a planter from Home Goods that was table height and used it as a table base instead! The Lantern is from OSH Hardware, the Rope as well…we teach you how to combine with an eye towards the upper end but your wallet grounded in reality!

How do you bring Custom into your home when all you have access to or can afford is from a Catalog?

We know from this month’s House Beautiful that Hermes Orange and Tiffany Blue are all the rage, but how do we incorporate that when we cannot or choose not to spend $$$$ on Custom Decorating? In this Seminar we FOCUS and EDIT from the get go. We start by establishing a Color Palate for YOU. A Custom Color Palate for a singular space that will be your jumping off point. We “eat the elephant” one bite at a time!! And while we eat…we are constantly bringing it back to YOUR custom space.

This week we are hosting a Seminar called “My Catalog Life: How to Create a Custom Home from Retail”

Our Seminar is Sold Out – we only allow 8 people at a time so that all of our participants get hands on training & one on one followup

BEFORE

HOWEVER

AFTER. This is a micro example of using Retail but customizing the space and thinking outside the box but INSIDE of reality and practicality. Everything functions, everything translates into another room, but it is custom for you and your lifestyle. This “mini project” we did as a bite size nugget for our actual Seminar which will focus on one of your “meal size” rooms-spaces, examples include: Family Room, Master, Guest Room, Living Room, Play Room.

we are videoing it so we can SHARE it with those of you who’d like to participate on a more Budget Friendly Platform! It should be ready to purchase and download within a few weeks. We will edit it into the 5 Segments we are doing at the Seminar.

First:  How to Establish a Color Palate that is Custom but Realistic, Affordable & Achievable

We run you through simple tips to establish your Custom Color Palate for your Home that is consistent with some of the major Furniture Catalogs out there. We pull from places like Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, CB2, West Elm, Grandinrod

!

We are SO excited about this Seminar. Can hardly wait!

If you aren’t already, please make sure to opt in on our Blog so you will receive updates as to when the download will be available.

Have a great week!
